I am an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at the University of Southern Indiana, where I teach mathematics content and methods courses for future and practicing elementary teachers. Before moving into teacher education, I spent six years teaching middle school mathematics in Ohio and Colorado, and I earned my Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at the University of Colorado Denver. Throughout my career I have been interested in how teachers use digital technologies in their classrooms, and my doctoral research examined how students reason about graphs and coordinate systems while working with dynamic digital tasks. More recently, I have become especially interested in how teachers can use AI to make mathematics come to life. Math ManipulAItives grew directly out of that work.
The interactive tasks and this website were created with the help of Claude (Anthropic).
